Dragonfly Garden Card for Global Design Project
I created this gorgeous card for the Global Design Project contest #GDP273. It requires a little more effort but I think it's worth it.
The challenge was to use only soft sea foam, petal pink, and night of navy.
The card uses the stamp set Dragonfly Garden and the coordinating dragonfly punch. I also used the tasteful textile embossing folder - it is my favorite and I think it improves just about any card. I used one die from the Ornate Layers die set.
I watercolored the main piece with both soft sea foam and petal pink, stamped the dragonfly in night of navy and colored it with soft sea foam, stamped the sentiment in night of navy, and outlined the main piece with petal pink cardstock. This color combination is stunning and I will definitely use it again.
I stamped the dragonfly in night of navy on whisper white, then stamped it a second time on vellum. I used a sponge dauber to color the dragonfly lightly with the soft sea foam and punched them both out. I rounded the wings of the dragonfly with my bone folder, and glued the vellum dragonfly on top of the whisper white dragonfly to create more interest. I created dimension by attaching the dragonfly with dimensionals on top of the die cut piece, which had also been attached with dimensionals. The die from Ornate Layers cuts out a pattern, which I cut with my trimmer and layered on top of another piece of petal pink cut just 1/8" smaller. Since I had embossed the white piece, I stamped the sentiment on a different piece of whisper white, added basic pearls, and placed it in the corner.
