Dragonfly Garden | Global Design Project #GDP274

Today's card was made for the Global Design Project #GDP274. This week was a sketch challenge. GDP gave us a sketch and we all had to create a card matching the sketch. Here is my entry:

I love the way the card came out! What do you think?

I use Dragonfly Garden all the time, but this was a fun twist - I used only the butterflies and no dragonfly. I stamped a swarm of butterflies with Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I created an ombre effect by using our new blending brushes and three shades of pink ink. It kind of reminds me of butterflies flying through a sunset.

I think this is going to a neighbor who did something nice for me.

Ingredients: Dragonfly Garden; Ornate Borders and Stitched Rectangles dies; petal pink, blushing bride, and calypso coral inks; basic white and thick basic white cardstocks; Versamark; clear embossing powder; blushing bride metallic ribbon; gold trim (from Forever Greenery Suite); liquid glue, glue dots, and Stampin' Dimensionals; trimmer; blending brushes; Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine ("Big Boss"); and heat tool.

Recipe: Cut a piece of thick basic white in half horizontally, score in half again, and fold to create a regular 5.5x4.25" card base. Die cut a piece of basic white with the largest Ornate Borders die and the Big Boss (I used the Take Your Pick tool and its brush to make sure that all the pieces came out).

Stamp a swarm of butterflies using the Versamark, going from the top left to the bottom right. Pour clear embossing powder on it, flick off, and use your heat tool to heat it up.

Using the blending brushes, blend on inks, starting from the bottom right and heading to the top left, using petal pink, blushing bride, and calypso coral, and overlapping the colors to make sure they blend well. Extend the colors to the top right but leave the bottom left uncolored. Add calypso coral around all the edges using the blending brushes.

Wrap a piece of blushing bride metallic ribbon around the piece and tie in a knot on the left side, liberally adhering the ribbon with glue dots. Loop gold trim multiple times then adhere on top of the knot with glue dots. Attach to the card base using liquid glue.

Stamp sentiments in blushing bridge on basic white and die cut using the smallest Stitched Rectangle die and the Big Boss. Adhere to the card front with Stampin' dimensionals.

Please let me know what you think! If you made this please tag me so that I can see it.

Thanks for spending some time with me!
