Elegant Card with Quite Curvy and Ornate Layers | Wednesday WOW! |GDP#276

Updated: Jan 28

What an elegant card for today's Wednesday WOW! I entered it into a challenge to CASE - copy and selectively edit - another card in the Global Design Project #276.

I used a lot of supplies for this card: the birds and sentiment are from Quite Curvy, the hearts are from Detailed Hearts and Many Hearts dies, and I also used the Ornate Layers die, Tasteful Labels dies, Quite Curvy dies, Tasteful Textiles embossing folder, Stampin' Blends, and linen twine. Phew!

I'll tell you a secret. I hadn't planned to add the hearts but I tore the top of the Ornate Layers die cut, and I needed to hide it. That's the thing about stamping - you can always fix anything by adding or taking away a layer. The hearts were leftover from previous projects when I used the Detailed Hearts and Many Hearts dies and saved the leftover cutouts. Don't throw anything away!

I love the way this Wednesday WOW card came out!

Ingredients: Quite Curvy stamp set; thick basic white, basic white, and rococo rose cardstocks; Oh So Ombre designer series paper; rococo rose and tuxedo black ink; Detailed Hearts, Many Hearts, Ornate Layers, Curvy, and Tasteful Labels dies; Tasteful Textiles embossing folder; light and dark Pretty Peacock and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends; linen twine; Take Your Pick tool with brush attachment (optional); liquid glue and Stampin' dimensionals, and (optional) glue dots; trimmer; and Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine (Big Boss).

Recipe: Cut a piece of thick basic white cardstock in half horizontally, score in half again, and fold to create a regular 5.5x4.25" card base. Using the Big Boss, cut a piece of basic white with the second largest Ornate Layer die. I brushed it with the optional Take Your Pick tool and brush to get the little pieces out.

Using the Tasteful Textiles embossing folder, emboss the top only of the card base. Using liquid glue, glue the Ornate Layers die onto the card base.

Unfortunately I tore the top of the die getting the little pieces out, and had to figure out a way to cover it up. So I grabbed some leftover hearts from the Detailed Heart die (Oh So Ombre designer series paper) and Many Hearts dies (rococo rose), and, using liquid glue, glued them over the top where I tore the die cut. Voila, it's fixed!

Stamp two birds from Quite Curvy onto basic white using tuxedo black ink, and color with Stampin' Blends. Cut out with the Curvy Dies. Using Stampin' dimensionals, place the birds on the hearts.

Stamp the sentiment onto basic white in rococo rose, and cut out with Tasteful Labels die. Using Stampin' dimensionals, adhere to the middle of the Ornate Layers piece.

Cut a long piece of linen twine, wrap twice around the card and tie in a bow. I like to attach the knot and bow with a glue dot to make sure it stays in place.

That's today's Wednesday WOW. Thanks for spending some time with me!
