My Niece's Birthday Card Made with A Touch of Ink

I made this card for my niece's 23rd birthday using the free sale-a-bration set A Touch of Ink.

My niece's favorite color is turquoise and she really likes polka dots, so I incorporated them both into this card for her along with a butterfly from A Touch of Ink.

I made the circles using a scalloped layering circle die and the free sale-a-bration Oh So Ombre designer series paper. I just cut a bunch of scalloped circles making sure to vary where on the ombre'd paper they were so that the colors varied. When I placed them on the white layer, I made sure to hang some off the edges and then cut them flush with the white cardstock using my snips.

I stamped the two-step butterfly on a piece of white, using the tuxedo black for the outline and blushing bride for the second step. I partially cut the butterfly with the snips, and partially cut around it with the same scalloped circle I used elsewhere on the card. I stamped Happy Birthday on basic white and cut it out with Tasteful Labels, then cut out a piece of the turquoise Oh So Ombre with a larger Tasteful Label die. Of course I had to pop up my sentiment with Stampin' dimensionals. :) Add basic pearls and linen twine, and you are done!

Ingredients: A Touch of Ink free Sale-a-Bration set; tuxedo black, old olive, and blushing bride inks; thick basic white, basic white, and oh so ombre designer series papers; layering circles and tasteful labels dies; basic pearls; linen twine; liquid glue, glue dots, and Stampin' dimensionals; trimmer; paper snips; Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine (Big Boss).

Recipe: Cut a thick basic white cardstock in half horizontally, score in half again and fold to create a regular card base 5.5x4.25". Cut a piece of basic white cardstock to 5.25x4". Using the Big Boss, cut a bunch of circles out of Oh So Ombre DSP, putting the scalloped layering circle on different places to vary the intensity of the turquoise. Using liquid glue, glue them as desired on the basic white cardstock. Turn it over and cut off any pieces hanging off (I purposefully have some hanging off because I think it looks better).

Stamp the first step of the butterfly on basic white, and stamp the second step using blushing bride. Cut around the top of the butterfly. Place the layering circle so that it cuts only around the uncut part of the butterfly.

Stamp Happy Birthday in old olive on basic white. Using a tasteful labels die, cut out the sentiment. Use a different tasteful layer die to cut a larger piece from the Oh So Ombre dsp, and adhere together using liquid glue. Adhere to the card base using Stampin' dimensionals, and glue the butterfly on it with liquid glue. Wrap the linen twine around twice, tying a bow in front, and adhere the knot from the bow onto the card base using a glue dot. Add three basic pearls to the sentiment and one to the butterfly.

I hope you like it! Tag me if you make it. Please leave me a comment.

Happy birthday Hope!
