Using Heart Scraps from Detailed Hearts Die

Updated: Jan 25

I love the Detailed Hearts die! The large hearts die is gorgeous and cuts a heart that can cover the whole card. Check out this blog from two days ago to see that large heart.

When you cut the heart die, you end up with many little hearts that pop out. Don't throw them away! Keep them for another project - like this one.

Here I ran two strips of tear and tape down the side of a basic white sheet. Using my finger, I pushed some of the brand new gilded leafing on one strip. I rubbed a little away but left most of it there. Be careful, it's messy!

For the second strip, I picked up some of the leftover hearts from the detailed heart die project I made two days ago and placed them haphazardly on the strip.

I cut a heart using the new Many Layered Hearts die for the top right, stamped Best Wishes, and added gilded gems.

A great use of the leftover hearts!

Recipe: Detailed Hearts dies and Many Layered Hearts dies; A Touch of Ink stamp set (sentiment); tuxedo black ink; thick basic white, basic white, and rococo rose cardstock; Oh So Ombre designer series paper; gilded leafing; tear and tape, liquid glue, and Stampin' dimensionals; gilded gems; Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine ("Big Boss"); trimmer.

Cut a piece of thick basic white in half horizontally, score in half horizontally, and fold to create a card base. Cut a piece of basic white to 5.25x4". On that piece, place a strip of tape and tape vertically about half an inch from the left side. Using your fingers, place gilded leafing along the strip. Push with your finger to make sure that the gilded leafing adheres, and lightly run your finger along to get rid of anything that is too loose. Careful, it's very messy!

Place a strip of tape vertically to the right of the first strip, about a quarter inch to the right. Using the putty tip of the Take Your Pick tool, pick up a heart that you have saved from when you used the Detail Hearts die and place at the top of the strip. Make your way down, placing hearts, varying the size and colors of the hearts. Go back over it and add more hearts. Keep going until the strip is completely covered.

Using the plain heart die from the Many Layered Hearts dies and the Big Boss, and placing the die with the dots around the edge inside, cut out a pierced heart from rococo rose cardstock. Adhere it to the basic white piece using liquid glue. Stamp the sentiment from the free Sale-a-Bration set A Touch of Ink on the bottom in tuxedo black. Add three gilded gems.

Adhere the basic white piece to the card base using Stampin' dimensionals.

Let me know what you think! If you make it please tag me so that I can see it. Thank you for spending some time with me!
